Cingular Sues Telemarketers
Who says the wireless industry doesn’t try to protect their customers (who they sometimes gouge)? Cingular Wireless, the biggest of the mobile technology service providers in the US, has filed lawsuits against 3 telemarketing companies for unsolicited phone calls that were made to Cingular Wireless customers.
According to report in DMNews, Cingular’s legal maneuvering targeted the following telemarketing companies - Go2Prepaid LLC, Sebell Telecommunications LLC, and the American Broadcast Systems Inc. of Seattle. All of them are accused of making unsolicited marketing phone calls to Cingular customers, which is a violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Cingular is asking for injunctions and unreported monetary values as punishment.
I must say as a Cingular customer it is refreshing to see a wireless provider stand up for their customers by taking the fight directly to the ring of choice for big businesses - the courthouse. If the monetary punishments are severe enough, Cingular’s actions could go a long way toward preventing non-solicited marketing calls from reaching your phone (who said spam was restricted to email?).

I don’t know…sounds like a PR stunt to me…”see, we’re the good guys, we’re fighting for you!”
But the ol’ Kansas City shuffle sometimes occurs…while you’re looking right…things are a happenin’ left.
i was kinda thinking the same thing, that’s why i added the, “(who they sometimes gouge)” part…
