Could Your Online Doritos Commercial Be Super?
One thing the GooTube fall-out has brought is a growing awareness of online video and its ability to support advertising, which is a logical progression considering Google is a marketing juggernaut as well as a search engine. The nature of video dictates these advertisements will be in the television commercial style, which leads to an idea - could online commercials become as popular (or annoying) as their television counterparts are?
Frito-Lay and Yahoo are willing to find out, and thanks to a competition sponsored by both companies, so can you. A post on the Yahoo Search blog explains would-be contestants are being asked to make a commercial for Doritos and the winner will be rewarded with a gift package that can only be called “super”… as in Super Bowl XL1 (extra large 1 or 41, your choice).
That’s right, the winning entry will be shown on Super Bowl Sunday, while the submitter (or director, if you will) receives a trip the upcoming Super Bowl in Miami and $10,000, which sounds like one of the better reward packages being offered… unless of course, we’re talking about the Deal or No Deal jackpot, but I digress. Entries, in true online video form, are to be submitted in the following formats - mpg, .mp4, .mov, .flv, .avi, or .wmv. Submissions are being accepted until December 4th, 2006.
For more information, take a trip over to the Doritos site and check out the rest of the details.

I will certainly agree with the “annoying” part. All those people out there that love television commercials are sure to be fired up though. There must be some of them. They make those “greatest commercials” tv specials for somebody.
The whole “GooTube” combination of words, is already getting a little old… much like “Bennifer” or “Brangalina”. I mean have mercy!
thank fark.com for that, je$$i3. that’s where i heard it first.
