New Google Blog For CPG
Google has launched a new blog called Google CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) according to a report by Threadwatch. http://www.threadwatch.org/node/9881 Google plans for the blog site to be a tool to communicate with the general public, advertisers and other agencies.
Their main focus according to the site will be online marketing and how they work with advertisers to create a positive customer experience. In the first post by Brendan McGeever, Industry Marketing Manager, CPG team said “Our goal for the blog is to communicate with you, our advertisers and agencies. We’ll talk about the ways in which CPG is tackling the changing world of online marketing and how we work with advertisers to create the best experience for their customers.”
Since this Google blog is new the content is sparse but the posts themselves are attempting to be interesting. Their latest post touches on the Coke + Mentos viral video.
Another post by Grace Ting, Account Strategist said “The big hitter for us in 2007 will be video. This medium has exploded in the online space over the past year, and we want to help CPG marketers take advantage of this compelling technology to engage consumers and meet their marketing goals”
It is too early to tell how the public and the marketing industry will receive Google’s latest blog.

Great Article, I just read somewhere that google is really a mega Ad agency now, more so than a search engine company.. Kinda in line whith what you have written here.
I am a consumer. Do I really want more video with my searches? If anyone can make it work, Google can.
