Yahoo’s HotJobs about to matter again

Consulting firm Classified Intelligence, citing the Wall Street Journal, said in a client report that several newspaper groups would start working with HotJobs, the job classifieds site owned by Yahoo!

A formal announcement should come on Monday. The deals HotJobs would have in place should help bolster its ability to compete with CareerBuilder and Monster:

We’re told the relationship will include more than just a HotJobs alliance, possibly giving Yahoo access to the newspapers’ local sales forces and also offering them some form of sales relationship with Yahoo’s local search product.

Those ad sales would put Yahoo in competition with Google, which recently announced several newspaper deals where it would sell remnant ad space to Google’s AdWords customers.
