Best Search Blogs Of 2006

Over at Search Engine Journal, Loren Baker held a “competition” to see which search-related blogs were the most popular. The contest was broken down into categories including topics like local search; affiliate marketing; search optimization; black-hat SEO and so on.
A quick glance at the various winners shows there weren’t really any surprise, George Mason-like, out-of-nowhere winners. The list of victors confirmed some thoughts about having a popular blog being important for contests like these. Of course, the winning blogs gained their deserved popularity from producing quality content, so the value of that particular lesson remains. The current list of winners is as follows:

Best SEO Blog of 2006 - SEOmoz
Best Social Media Optimization Blog - Pronet Advertising
Best Search Engine News Blog of 2006 - Search Engine Watch
Best SEM / Contextual Ad Blog - Search Engine Roundtable
Best Link Building Blog of 2006 - Jim Boykin’s Internet Marketing Blog
Best Black Hat SEO Blog of 2006 - SEO Black Hat
Best Local Search Blog of 2006 - Mike the Internet Guy
Best Affiliate Marketing Blog of 2006 - Shoemoney
Best Web 2.0 Blog - TechCrunch
That certainly is a lot of categories and I think there are some more winners to be announced. I guess Loren didn’t want to leave anyone out of the festivities… In order to determine the winners, readers were asked to vote on a scale from 1-5 with 5 being the highest score.
