Advertisers favor Google search ad monopoly?

Strange but true, at least for a few advertisers who eagerly await their advertising’s appearance at a Yahoo search near you.

Google partner and ad agency giant Publicis Group never looked likely to criticize the search ad deal Google made with Yahoo. Other cheerleaders for the pairing of one-time search rivals come from some of those who would allegedly suffer from the deal.

Said the Austin American-Statesman:

…some customers say the arrangement for Yahoo to show ads sold by Google actually may lower their costs; they have said that Google ads do a better job targeting Web users.

“The agreement between Yahoo and Google should help the relevancy of our advertising on Yahoo, which should actually make the dollars we spend more efficient,” said Geoff Atkinson, vice president of tactical marketing at online retailer Overstock.com Inc. in Salt Lake City.

We expect Google would concur with that position.
